Oh those crazy folks over at Woot.com ... they really know how to grab your attention! With the whole nation checking their stock portfolio every other minute of the day, Woot.com decided to use Google AdSense to try to lure some of those investors away from crying themselves to sleep over their portfolios and instead drop by Woot.com and purchase some random item they probably will never need. (NOTE: I am addicted to Woot.com and buy tons of crap I don't need!).
For those who were wondering, the price of Google's (GOOG) stock when I checked was at 353.20 (up a little over 2%), granted that is still below the 747.24 52-week high the stock saw back on November 7th of last year. I tried searching for other technology companies that Woot might be targeting, but couldn't find anything for the stock quotes of Apple (APPL), Research in Motion (RIMM) or even Yahoo! (YHOO). But after seeing Woot's idea of targeting the stock symbols for various companies, this seems like a great way to gain traffic, although its hard to condone. Maybe I should start a campaign for the stock symbol for Verizon (VZ), who is actually down today even after the announcement of the Blackberry Storm, and have people come to one of my online arcades to distract them even more at work.
